ECOTHIN-E is a high temperature thinner for water based drilling muds (WBM’s). It is used to control the viscosity and gels strengths of WBM’s that have high solids concentrations. ECOTHIN-E adsorbs onto the surface of clay platelets, preventing the flocculation off bentonite particles at high temperatures (up to 430ºF / 220ºC). ECOTHIN-E tolerates seawater, NaCL and KCL.

ECOTHIN-E should be mixed in the water base mud system slowly 0.1 – 2.0 lbs./bbl. (0.29-5.70 Kg/m³) over one full circulation through the rig hopper. Be careful not to over treat system in order to avoid barite settling.
